Upon my home town(s)

Sydney's Cornulla

Hong Kong WTO protest... with Korean farmers.

The world news was on: not talking about the usual American and Iraq... now the attention is at Sydney and Hong Kong. Both, are my home towns.

Sydney's rage between the Anglo and the Arab migrants were, by no means, unacceptable. I had friends from both background. The multi-culturalism apperas fine so far, until last week... aii

WTO summit in Hong Kong... it's understand that those Korean farmers will be well-planned on their protest strategy. So far they have acquired the world's attention. The police, by contract, seems over-react and this will out-rage, not the Korean, but those in the shadow to conduct a more violent and unexpected act. I would dare say, this is such a BIG BIG MISTAKEs.

Keep watching / hearing / reading the news update... there will be more of a surprise coming.

Idiot guide to creative thinking?

Sometimes I like to play stupid. Yesterday I wished there's really an "Idiot guide to creative thinking" existed. Throughout the entire day I felt powerless to break my thinking boundaries... simply to find a way to execute a very simple concept.

Now I am on my second day of deep thought. To help me consolidate: an online experience would be defined as what message receivers:

  1. see / hear onscreen as it is (layout / background music)
  2. see / hear onscreen as it moves (animation or video / background music stream)
  3. see / hear onscreen as we move & click (mouse-enable events / sound effect)
  4. type onscreen (interactivity)
  5. draw onscreen (interactivity)

hence, with the above elements, receivers would experience the intended & designated spactial and tempo. Designers, as the constructor, should be able to allow the message senders to do the following:

  1. define within a fixed layout
  2. define a background music
  3. define the tempo / speed / velocity of the movement
  4. define receivers interactivity on written or pictorial interactive response

The general definition is that, a sender should be able to utilize all the senses (see, hear, speak, smell, touch) in delivering the message. With the intended medium in mind (e.g. the net), we must think of a best way to maximize our communication.

The internet is more than visual communication.

WTO & globalization - my point of view

I remebered doing an essay on globalization in 99 -- at the time I was studying 2nd year vis. com. at UTS. All I could remember writing is that: Globalization would be good to the knowledge group; Information and news evolve around the globe thru the w.w.w.; blah blah blah I believe you can imagine the rest and get my point.

Now W.T.O. is holding conference right here: Hong Kong. Thousands of protestor blood in. Marching all the way peacefully (so far) in voicing their disagreement in multi-nation trade. Saying the developed nation had kill off labour cost, and treat poor countries as slavary labour.

They do have their points. but: I now believe, there's no U-turn to the good o' days.

Now it is the time for these nation to accept their role in the global community. With better positioning, they can still earn the right and economic justice. Their people would still be able to "move upward" to other countries if globalization is truely visionized and corporations fully executed in every nations in the world.

You may disagree my points. Though that's what I still believe in.

Imagination has no limit

At PRIME 2005 I came across this video clip.. an ad which I shouldn't explain with words. I accidentally found an online version during my research at work.
Take a look

Seaze's Blog + John's wedding

Seaze has a blog... all these days since Oct 05. She didn't tell me at all but I cleverly discover it, eventually~ http://seazeleung.blogspot.com

2 weddings in 2 days : Last night's Keith (my old co-worker), and Today it's John Wong (my UTS old pal at interior design). John and Alison had a lovely set of wedding photos taken at Taiwan by locals. The look and feel matches so much of my own taste and Seaze's. The wedding banquet was lovely: with John singing along with Alison's piano score.... eyeing each other whenver they have time to.. and seems the smile of "love" and "life-long engagement".

So glad and all the congradulation to their marriage.

Most Outstanding Chairman of 2005

City Junior Chamber 城市青年商會 just finished our award ceremony last night at Eaton.

What a year of 2005. I am so glad that my effort was recognized by an award of Most Oustanding Chairman of Large-Scale Project. 最傑出大型工作計劃主席. My project, the 17th Asian Pacific Children Convention (Hong Kong Selection) 第十七屆亞太兒童交流大會(香港區選拔) - 探索、求知、成長新體驗, has also won the best project file and a merit on promotional items.

The best of all, to be admitted, that I am so proud of my OCs. Alan had a fulfilling year as my oc, an IA officer, a Prime graduate, and of coz, the chairman of last night MFG. Hughugs, Lego, Wilson, Thames, Jones, Harry all had pay off their effort. All of them were, by the end of year, a proud chairman on their own domain.... It seems my chairmanship is built upon how much they learnt thru-out the year.

Leo Lee, how much do i owe you for u to be on my side...
Tony, so glad we have been working toward a common goal...
Adviser Anthony, I thank you for pointing a right direction on how to be a good chairman...
and President Danny, I thank you for giving me this wonderful and fruitful opportunity~!

That's it then, a round-up gang for CJC 2005.

[Myself] Got a Job

I am happy to announce that I have joined e-crusade. Starting next monday 7-11-2005 I hope I can fit in perfectly and enjoying myself.

Getting kinda excited too: Star Wars Ep. III DVD had just arrived.

And, I will dedicate this blog, from now onwards, to my comments on Hong Kong people (and their funny behaviors), the digital culture and of course, my life.
